Crew who got involved in a champagne bottle throwing scuffle with boy band Westlife
after dad Bryan Mcfadden was heard baiting the South London crew.
Robbie Williams continued his record-breaking Brits run picking up his 13th
award – this time for Best British Male. But Williams surprised the crowd by not
turning up and instead sent a recorded message.
Dido, who hit the big time after Eminem used her track Thankyou on Stan, picked
up her awards for Best British Female and Best British Album.
The overwhelmed 30-year-old Londoner, virtually unknown 18 months ago, gushed
thanks to her mum dad and brother Rollo of dance act Faithless.
Kylie, 33, who won Best International Female and Best International Album,
wowed the crowd by appearing in a bodiced micro dress and thigh high silver boots
for a performance of Can’t Get You Out Of My Head.
Elsewhere at the annual star studded Earls Court event Travis won Best British Group,
So Solid Crew won Best British Video for 21 Seconds and fellow south London stars
Basement Jaxx claimed the Best British Dance Act award.
Newcomers Blue and The Strokes both collected their first awards for Best
British Newcomer and Best International Newcomer respectively while Shaggy won
Best International Male.
Other awards went to Westlife who won Best Pop Act, Destiny’s Child who claimed
the Best International Group award and S Club 7 whose Don’t Stop Movin’ won Best British Single.
RnB star Craig David, who failed to win an award last year despite a record number
of nominations, again failed to pick up a Brit.
Industry legend Sting rounded off the show with a medley of hits including
Everything Little Thing She Does Is Magic, Every Breath You Take, If I Ever Lose
My Faith and If You Love Somebody Set Them Free.
The former Police frontman was at the awards to pick up an awared for Oustanding
Contribution to the British music industry.
