The walk was launched at a champagne reception by comedian Paul O'Grady
"Get off your asses and help Stonewall win partnership rights," said the creator of
Lily Savage, "It's just a short stroll!"
Paul, creator of Lily Savage, and a constellation of other celebrities are backing Stonewall's latest effort to raise thousands of pounds for the campaign for partnership rights. Last year's Equality Walk in New York raised over £40,000 for campaigns for lesbian, gay and bisexual equality. |

This year's 10 km sponsored walk in Brighton will be held on Bank Holiday Sunday 2 May.
Starting at 2pm on the seafront, it will head past the famous West Pier, through
Brighton's gay village and finish at the Royal Pavilion. The day will climax with
a fantastic celebrity party co-hosted by Brighton & Hove Pride and a special
benefit night at Wild Fruit.
"This is a critical year," says Stonewall Chief Executive Ben Summerskill. "Same sex partnership rights are a very real possibility and could bring massive social and cultural change. But victory is by no means certain. We need to raise funds to ensure that our campaign is as effective as possible." | |

To join Stonewall in Brighton in May, all you have to do is pay a £25 registration fee and you're off. To make the weekend as enjoyable as possible there are big rewards if you raise certain levels of sponsorship including discounts on tickets in the Brighton Festival which opens that weekend, free travel on South Central Trains from London to Brighton, Brighton's favourite Italian restaurant Donatello's are offering free dinners and champagne from the event sponsors Mayfair Cellars.
