Who Can And Cannot Take CarbamazepineNHS medicines information on who can take carbamazepine and who may not be able to take it.Who can take carbamazepineMost adults and children aged 1 month and over can take carbamazepine. Who may not be able to take carbamazepineCarbamazepine is not suitable for some people. To make sure it's safe for you, tell your doctor before starting to take the medicine if you have: - ever had an allergic reaction to carbamazepine or any other medicine
- a heart condition
- a rare blood disorder called porphyria
- ever had bone marrow problems
- are pregnant, trying to get pregnant or breastfeeding
